Manga Summaries//Book 1//Chapter 4
Tohru and company (Arisa, Saki, and Kyo) all decide to play a nice game of Dai Hin Min at school. One catch through, loser does the entire classroom cleaning! Meanwhile, Yuki has to reject yet another girl's affections. Of course, back in the classroom Kyo loses and is stuck with cleaning duty. Naturally, once Yuki reenters the class, Kyo picks a fight and promptly loses.
At work, it is nearly time for Tohru's shift to end when she overhears the other workers talking about a pretty boy waiting outside the building. Tohru knows that it must be Yuki, and sure enough it is. He came to walk her home. On their way, Yuki talks about his life at Sohma house and how he wanted to be surrounded by and accepted by "normal" people, but he feels that he cannot whereas Kyo can. Tohru tries to tell Yuki he is liked by people, but he says he just pretends to be nice so people will like him and that he is not genuinely nice. …and then, it rains.
Once home and towel-dried, Yuki rushes outside to defend his "secret base" with the help of Tohru. Continuing on the conversation from earlier, Tohru offers some Kyoko-isms (Words of advice from her mother) and makes Yuki feel better. After much hard work, the base is saved and the leeks are ready to harvest!
Tohru makes a meal with leeks that Yuki has to literally force Kyo to eat. (He hates leeks.) Someone ringing the doorbell interrupts dinner and Tohru goes to answer it and finds a young lady, Kagura Sohma. Kagura asks if it is really true that Kyo is there. What new adventures await with the arrival of a new Sohma? One thing is for certain, things are going to be a "smash!"
