Summary: It's the last day of the year and that means it is time for house cleaning. Uo and Hana come to help out with the cleaning and there is a mix between cleaning and demolition. Between Kyo and Yuki fighting, Shigure running away from his editor, and Uo beating up Kyo the thin paper doors do not stand much chance for survival. His editor for his newest manuscript is harassing Shigure, a novelist, and he is daunting her with his procrastination skills. After she looks ready to kill herself, Shigure hands over the completed manuscript that had been done for ages.
Tohru goes shopping with Yuki to get some things for new years but he realizes that he forgot to tell her that the three zodiac members would have to go to the main house for New Year's so they wouldn't be home. When they get home, Yuki and Kyo decide that they aren't going but Tohru talks them into it. She wants them to spend the New Year with their families. Tohru sees them off and the zodiac trio starts walking to the main house. In route, they are found by Hana who constructively says that this is the first year Tohru will be alone for the New Year. Kyo and Yuki immediately rush home as Shigure just stands there wondering if Hana planned that.
When Yuki and Kyo burst through the door back home they find Tohru crying with the picture of her mother. Back at the main house, Shigure tells Akito and everyone that the boys have skipped out on New Years. Back at the house, they all go up to the roof to see the first sunrise of the year. They all make their resolutions and in the end the boys are much happier back home than they ever could have been spending New Years at Sohma house.
